What did you do this past week?
I worked on finishing phase 4 of the IDB project. I also worked on projects for my other two computer science classes. I have also been trying to study in advance for my midterms coming up next week and the week after Thanksgiving break.
What’s in your way?
It took my group much longer than we had expected to update the design of our website and refactor our code for phase 4. But spending a lot more time refactoring our code has made our code much cleaner, and I really enjoyed spending a lot of time on the design of the website with the frontend team.
What will you do next week?
I will finish up phase 4 of this project. I have a midterm for one of my classes this week which I need to study for. I also have a project due for one of my other computer science classes this week, which I will continue working on. I also have multiple midterms the week after Thanksgiving break, so I hope to study early for those midterms as well.
If you read it, what did you think of What Happens to Us Does Not Happen to Most of You?
I have not read it yet.
What was your experience of refactoring?
It has been very helpful to learn about different methods through which we can refactor our code. Often times, it’s easy to only worry about getting the code to work when you first write it, but this can lead to messy code. It’s important to remember that code should be clean, reusable, and maintainable too. Learning about refactoring techniques has helped me see new ways in which code can be improved to be more reusable and maintainable.
What made you happy this week?
This is the last week before Thanksgiving break, so I am looking forward to spending more time with my family during the Thanksgiving holidays. I’m also looking forward to finally getting to relax a little during the Thanksgiving holidays before the last week of classes, which is always really hectic and filled with midterms.
